DAY 3 FRIDAY 5.20pm

EBF Fillies’ Handicap

1m2½f

Silver Lake 1st

Race report

Just as she did at Glorious Goodwood, Silver Lake shone in the last race of a festival afternoon just as golden hour lit the racecourse with its sunset colours. Raised nine pounds for her resounding win on the south coast, she emerged from midfield here, up the middle of the Knavesmire, to win with something in hand, albeit by just a head. A straightforward, if narrow, victory to end the day on a high.

Preview

Winner of a similar event on the Friday of Glorious Goodwood, eyecatching grey Silver Lake has been advanced 9lbs up the handicap for that consummate triumph. She has any amount of potential and will surely make her presence felt at Stakes level before long. Trainer William Haggas thinks she remains competitively weighted to notch up a third consecutive handicap victory, again ridden by Saffie Osborne with James Doyle unable to do the weight.
