The richest maiden race in Europe, and as competitive as ever. Our prospect, Launch Sequence, came here on the back of two good efforts, last time at Glorious Goodwood, finishing in front of Final Objective – form which had been resoundingly franked earlier in the afternoon. Perhaps not relishing the seventh and final furlong of this race, he ran deep on the track, six wide round in the bend. He threatened to take closer order in the run to the line before tucking in behind runners and soldiering on only one-paced for sixth. Still green he will surely come in for the experience if dropped in class.

A £100,000 race for non-winners, and the richest maiden in Europe. Launch Sequence was rather unlucky on his debut, not finding a run till it was all over, but keeping on well for third under gentle handling. The Karl Burke-trained colt will have learned plenty when again finishing third at the Qatar Goodwood Festival – one place in front of our Gimcrack runner Final Objective. This race promises to be unusually competitive for the grade, but our charge goes there with strong form and the potential to progress well.
