A 6f sprint handicap with 20 runners, designed to be very hard to pick the winner. Evening Saigon comes here having won the storied Stewards’ Cup at Glorious Goodwood. That was a tremendous run, for which the handicapper has punished him by raising his weight by 4lb – equivalent to about two lengths. It’s possible he will take it in his stride, as he’s a progressive four-year-old in the form of his life. The year older Fine Interview is also trained by Hamad Al-Jehani – he’s a soft-ground specialist who has won six of his 19 starts… but three of his latest five. Our third contender is the William Haggas-trained gelding Realign. Once spoken of as a potential Group-class sprinter, he has tended to disappoint on the big stage – but the soft ground he’ll run on today may well bring out the best in him.
